Learn How I’ve Made $150,000 (And Counting) From One Blog Post And How You Can Too

Sharing is caring!

You’re ONE blog post away from changing your life and business.

So far, in the past year and a half, I’ve written two blog posts that have each made me over $50,000…EACH.

One, the post I’m referring to in the title, has made me over $100,000 in less than a year.

I’ll be focusing on my most recent money-making blog post.

A Quick Personal Story

I almost quit blogging at the end of 2017.

I had just closed my offline business in May of 2017 to work full-time online, 4 months later I was barely covering our bills. Savings was dwindling, wife wasn’t happy, and I was STRESSED and ANXIOUS all of the time.

I started studying to get my real estate license in October. And then something happened…

I had a blog post TAKE OFF. In one day I had made over $1,500.

The month before I had only made about $2,500, so you can imagine how pumped I was.

I ended the month at something like $12,830 and I was HOOKED.

Hooked on the feeling of finally living my dream of making $10,000/month with my online business.

The Post In Question

It’s a headline that is impossible to skip over if you need to lose weight:

How To Lose 50 Pounds Or More Using A Ketogenic Diet

As you can tell by now, I’m in the health and weight loss niche.

The 6 Key Elements That Made This Post Extremely Profitable

1.) It has a title that just begs you to click on the article
2.) It offers a solution to a problem
3.) It’s optimized to be easily shared
4.) It’s easy to read
5.) It has a strong call to action to a digital product that works
6.) I leveraged Facebook and Pinterest to drive LOTS of traffic

Most People Read Headlines

Your headline should accomplish three major goals for each blog post:

1.) It should compel people to click on it and promote a tangible outcome to those that do read your article.

2.) It should contain a relevant long-tailed keyword that will help the article perform well for search engine traffic.

3.) It should grab attention, then your article should keep it.

Solve A Problem, Get Rich

Everytime I sit down to write a blog post, shoot a video, or talk to someone wanting to make money online I ask one simple question:

To myself: “What problem am I going to solve?

To someone else: “What problem are you solving?

When someone comes across a piece of content from you or anyone else they are asking themselves: “What’s In It For Me?”

We are all after SOLUTIONS to our problems. And more importantly, we all want RESULTS.

Lose more weight, make more money, get more traffic, gain more muscle, etc…

Just like there are thousands of problems, there are more than one solution to any given problem. So, why should a prospect reading your content choose YOU over your competition?

Make It Shareworthy

If you aren’t getting organic traffic from viral posts, you’re missing on a lot of easy money.

There are 3 important things to consider to make for easy sharing:

1.) Have a social sharing plugin

2.) Have optimized social media images

3.) Have an awesome article filled with actionable content

I see a lot of blogs with #1 and #2, but when it comes to #3 they fall short. If your content sucks, no one is going to share it.

The 2 money making blog posts that have gone viral gave away the farm. I show exactly what to do to get results.

Don’t be afraid to “give away the farm.” Don’t think, if I give away too much value, no one will buy my product. In fact, it’s the opposite.

There is no better way to establish trust and credibility. Period.

Don’t Be Boring

Remember everything you learned in high school English class?

Well throw it out the window.

Ernest Hemingway famously quoted “I write drunk and edit sober.”

Keep It Simple Stupid

Tips to make your content simpler:

  • Break it up using headings
  • Don’t use big words. They’re an easy way to lose your readers.
  • Be conversational
    • write like your talking to a friend
  • Use short sentences with simple structure
    • avoid run on sentences
    • avoid long paragraphs

Don’t Forget The Call To Action

call to action (CTA) is an instruction to the audience designed to provoke an immediate response, usually using an imperative verb such as “enter your email now”, “find out more” or “click here for more information.”

there are three things that nearly all the CTAs include:

  1. A no-obligation statement that removes or reduces risk. In many cases, they’re asking for a free trial rather than a purchase. In other words, try us, you’ll like us. Or give me your email address before asking you to take out your wallet. This gives people the confidence to buy.
  2. All of them contain some version of “Mail your acceptance card.” This is simple usability. You have to tell people what to do next. Today it would read, “Click the button below.”
  3. Encouragement to respond right away. That’s standard direct response. Don’t give people an option to wait and think about it.

Your CTA should be strong and easy to follow.

If Content Is King, Traffic Is Queen

Some of the best advice I can give you in regards to traffic is don’t put all of your eggs in one basket.

For 2 years I was all about Facebook…Facebook ads, posts, groups, sponsored posts, etc…

I started tweaking my SEO and optimizing my Pinterest presence. Soon after, my traffic skyrocketed!

If you don’t have the budget to run paid traffic, then you need to invest time into making your Facebook, Pinterest, and SEO strategies your #1 priority.

Putting Everything Together

One article that took me 2 hours to write…$145,000 and counting.

Now, I just focus on duplicating the same process over and over again, I’ll explain my process below…

The Resources That Make Full-Time Blogging Possible

1.) WordPress – The only thing you’ll need other than a free wordpress account is a domain name and a hosting provider.

Bluehost – Bluehost is a great starting point for bloggers. You can grab a domain name (often times free) and get some of the best, most cost effective hosting on the internet.

2.) ClickFunnelsClickFunnels helps you easily build landing pages to collect email addressees, sales pages to sell your products, home pages to optimize for making money, and saves you time and money.

If it weren’t for ClickFunnels I would probably not be making over $15,000/month, because I would still be trying to learn how to code a sales page or saving money to hire a web developer.

ClickFunnels offers a 14-Day Free Trial. You can get started right here.

3.) GetResponse – Getresponse is an email marketing platform that allows you to collect email addresses, send newsletters, and set up autoresponders.

It’s important to stay in contact with your readers and followers. You can send them updates after you write a blog post, publish a video, or create a product to sell. Or even send them a product as an affiliate.

4.) SamCart Samcart helps you create beautiful, high-converting checkout pages and order forms.

ClickFunnels also allows you to build similar order forms, however, I LOVE how easy SamCart is, AND when I’m currently too lazy to switch my SamCart order forms over to ClickFunnels. So there’s that…

5.) Commitment – This one is absolutely FREE. Even if you signed up for the best blogging or online marketing tools on the internet, if you aren’t committed to success, you won’t take action.

While the above tools are easy to use, there is some level of time, energy, and focus required to make the most of them.

What Do I Know That You Don’t?

Even though you are reading this article from me, I probably don’t know that much more than you. The difference between me and you is I took action and used tools that made being successful easy.

You just need 3 things to make money blogging:

1.) A voice, passion, and a mission

2.) Traffic

3.) Leads and Sales

For example, ClickFunnels helped me completely eliminate all of my excuses, because the software just made building a sales funnel incredibly easy.

I needed traffic, so I started to post on social media (using tools like Tailwind for Pinterest and Social Pilot for everything else), learned a little about SEO (using tools like SEMrush), and

I needed leads and sales, so I learned how to get leads using ClickFunnels and Getresponse to communicate with my prospects. And last but not least, I needed to make sales, which ClickFunnels and Samcart allowed me to do.

ClickFunnels has order forms, so technically, you don’t NEED Samcart also, but I’m a friend of the Samcart founder so I keep my account active.

And that’s it!

It’s your turn to start making a full-time living off of blogging!
